 Nutrition & Testing for Swimmers – FAQs

1. How did this swimmer drop 4 seconds so quickly?📉 “Is that even possible?”Yes! She started fueling correctly, tested her muscle stores and hydration, and followed a tailored plan. With the right intake of clean carbs, protein, and electrolytes, her body recovered faster and performed better—leading to major time drops.

2. What kind of testing are we talking about?🔬 “Do I need to go to a lab?”Nope! We offer affordable, portable tests that can be done anywhere—like muscle fuel scans and hydration assessments. These show whether your athlete is ready to train or compete. No guessing!

3. What does fueling even mean for swimmers?🥣 “Isn’t nutrition just about eating healthy?”Not exactly. Fueling means eating the right amounts of carbs, protein, and healthy fats at the right times—before, during, and after training. Swimmers need a lot more than most realize—especially before early AM practices or multi-event meets.

4. When should swimmers eat on race day?“They wake up early—what should we do?”Fueling starts as soon as they wake up. Ideally 3–4 hours before their event with 700–1000 fuel units (calories). If that’s too early, use a staged approach: sip and nibble every 30–60 minutes with liquids, rice cakes, smoothies, and drinkable yogurts.

5. What supplements actually help swimmers?💊 “There are so many out there…”Start with the basics:✅ Multivitamin✅ Vitamin D3✅ Omega-3s✅ Probiotics✅ Vitamin C (especially around meets)Use NSF Certified for Sport options like Klean Athlete, Skratch, or UCAN.
